When NIBIRU was first announced, the reactions matched the ambition of the project: some applauded, while others raised an eyebrow. Since then, rumors, speculation, and half-truths have created a distorted picture of what NIBIRU actually is.
If you’ve heard of it, you probably have a few preconceived ideas. Let’s go through them one by one and clarify what’s fiction and what’s reality.
1. “NIBIRU is a real estate project. It sells seaside apartments.”
This is probably the most widespread myth. NIBIRU has nothing to do with real estate and sells no apartments.
NIBIRU answers the question: What can I do at the seaside in the evening?
The project is developed as a private entertainment and tourism resort, not a residential one.
“NIBIRU is not a real estate project, it’s an entertainment project. We believe that’s what the Romanian coast is actually missing: not just accommodation, but real reasons for people to choose to spend their vacation here. We’re building a place that answers the question ‘What can I do at the seaside in the evening?’, with experiences for multiple generations, at international standards and at an accessible price.” - Andrei Șelaru (Selly), co-founder of NIBIRU
2. “It’s a festival. It lasts a few days, then it closes.”
No. NIBIRU is not a festival. It is a seasonal city where multiple festivals can take place.
It runs for 46 consecutive days, from July 16 to August 30, 2026, with a daily program from 18:00 to 03:00. Music, restaurants, shows, comedy, a beer garden, an amusement park - every evening, Monday through Sunday.
The internal festivals are 5 distinct events, each with its own identity:
GALAXIA (July 17–19)
NEBULA X (July 24–26)
Sea Days (August 14–16)
RETROGRADE (August 28–30)
K-Pop Days (August 1–2)
But NIBIRU itself does not stop with them. The promenade, restaurants, shows on the Center Stage, and all other spaces remain active throughout all 46 days.
3. “It’s going to be expensive. It’s only for people with a lot of money.”
The reality is exactly the opposite. Access to NIBIRU’s main promenade, where you have live concerts every evening, an amusement park, a museum, a continuous carnival - is FREE. All with a single condition: a minimum spend of 25 lei (the equivalent of 5 euros).
And the festivals? Designed so that the experience is accessible to anyone who wants to be part of it. There are also special packages, including a multi-festival pass and an All Access package for the entire season.
“We want a high school student to be able to come with their crew and have the best night of their life without emptying their savings.”
4. “It’s for people aged 18–25. If you’re older or have children, it’s not for you.”
NIBIRU started precisely out of a need to correct this limitation. A lot of feedback came in along the lines of: “My kid was there, I would have liked it too, but the music isn’t for me.” The answer was to build a place for everyone at the same time.
Areas and attractions for everyone:
- Children: Hype Play (5,000 sqm playground), the Amusement Park, the Planet Museum, the TaranTerra reptile exhibition
- Families: free access to the promenade, daytime programs, security with hundreds of guards and a 24/7 video command center
- Adults 30+: NIBIRU Beer Garden (1,000 seats, live music, relaxed atmosphere, developed together with URSUS Breweries), The Fool Comedy Club in partnership with Micuțu, Bordea, Drăcea
- EDM, pop, and ’90s–2000s nostalgia fans: dedicated festivals for each genre, with international and Romanian artists
NIBIRU does not have a single target audience. It has multiple audiences coexisting in the same space, each with their own experience.
5. “It’s somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Hard to get to.”
NIBIRU is located between Costinești and Tuzla, with direct access from DN39, one of the most heavily used roads on the coast. The access infrastructure includes:
- Dozens of hectares of parking
- Costinești train station a 3-minute walk away
- Eforie Sud and Eforie Nord 15 minutes away, Mangalia 30 minutes, Constanța 50 minutes
The surrounding area already has accommodation capacity for tens of thousands of people, not counting new real estate developments in the area.
6. „NIBIRU is a marketing project. It won’t actually happen.”
NIBIRU did not come with vague promises. It came with detailed renderings, confirmed partners, tickets on sale in real time, and a full artist lineup — including Timbaland, Busta Rhymes, Ozuna, Nicky Jam, and Hugel, the first international names already announced.
„It's a bet on the potential of the Romanian coast and on Romania’s capacity to build a competitive entertainment and tourism product at an international level.” - Selly
Official partners include: Banca Transilvania, eMAG, LIDL, glo HILO, URSUS, BUMBU, essence and Jagermeister.
So, what is NIBIRU, really?
NIBIRU is the newest entertainment resort on the Romanian coast, a private, modular, and scalable ecosystem, conceived as a seasonal city that comes to life every summer. Not just a place where things happen, but a paradigm shift: from a model centered almost exclusively on accommodation, to one where the experience, the evening program, safety, infrastructure, and accessibility become key elements for attracting Romanian and international tourists.
In the first season (summer 2026), NIBIRU includes:
- The central promenade (6 hectares, free access) with Nibiru Center Stage, a minimum of 8 artists every evening
- Nibiru Arena, the largest open-air club in the world, with a capacity of 30.000 people
- The Fool Comedy Club, in partnership with Micutzu, Bordea, Drăcea and other comedians
- NIBIRU Beer Garden, with 1.000 seats, in partnership with URSUS Breweries, and Nuba
- Hype Play, Amusement Park, Planet Museum, TaranTerra
- 5 festivals: Galaxia, Nebula X, K-Pop Days, Sea Days, Retrograde
- LIDL Supermarket, 2 padel courts, basketball court powered by Banca Transilvania, VMax karting
- Over 40 restaurants and international brands
A project that matters beyond entertainment
NIBIRU estimates an economic impact of over 300 million euros per year in the local economy, with approximately 80% of suppliers from Romania. The project aims to extend consumption and tourist circulation throughout the entire season, not just around one-off events.
On the ecological front, NIBIRU uses eco-friendly modular systems, FSC-certified wood, and rainwater reuse - and is in the process of obtaining BREEAM certification, the first of its kind for an entertainment project in Romania. On the CSR side, a school minibus and a police car have already been donated, and the roof of the school in Costinești has been repaired, because local community development is a top priority for the NIBIRU team.
NIBIRU opens on July 16, 2026
It has direct access from National Road 39, dozens of hectares of parking, and Costinești train station is just a 3-minute walk away. The surrounding resorts are very close: Eforie 15 minutes away, Mangalia 30 minutes, and Constanța approximately 50 minutes. So, this is NIBIRU: 46 days of top-tier entertainment, every day, from 18:00 until morning. The myths presented here remain just myths… and the reality of NIBIRU is an entirely different story.
